Palmgrade is built to keep working when the internet is slow or unavailable. To do that it stores data on the device you use, in your browser’s local storage and offline database rather than in cookies. This is not tracking — none of it is sent anywhere except back to our own servers when your device reconnects — but it does mean school data can sit on a device, so we set out plainly what is stored and when it is cleared.
Signing out clears cached records from the device; unsent work is preserved on purpose, because losing a student’s exam answers would be worse than keeping them briefly. You can remove everything at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser settings, or by uninstalling the app if you installed it. Because school data can be held on a device in this way, our Terms of Service ask schools to keep the devices their staff use protected with a passcode and, where available, disk encryption.
